The Oklahoma 100 Celebrates 5 Years

Brenda Jones Barwick, APR – President and CEO

Wow! I can’t believe it. The Oklahoma 100 is already celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. What began as a gift to the Oklahoma community with a few thousand readers has exploded to 70,000 subscribers statewide.

I want to extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to the hard work from not only our contributors, but to the partnerships, businesses and executives who keep this state growing, giving us more than enough content to write on each issue. With every new ribbon cutting, our community continues to thrive across the state providing resources like new parks, restaurants, community news and even road and bridge openings that allow Oklahomans to explore our great state.

We like to stay in-the-know with everything from health and lifestyle tips and tricks on how to make delicious holiday recipes to discovering fun family activities and intriguing history about the state. In fact, former Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett, who currently serves as our executive counsel, was one of The Oklahoma 100’s first interviews. In his celebratory interview with me this past week, he talks about his forecast for 2020 and the coming decade for Oklahoma (and there’s a lot the state can look forward to).

The Oklahoma 100 has grown immensely in its first few years which only helps set us up for a successful future. This is the first of many milestones for The Oklahoma 100 and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the next 5… 10… even 50 years! Since we’ve launched this marketing platform, we have worked with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD), Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) and Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma. Not only are we the ones supporting and celebrating our neighbors on their accolades, but we are even prouder to be the ones who report on it.

Here’s to another great year and decade for The Oklahoma 100!
