Becoming an 'Aerospace State'

Brenda Jones Barwick, APR – President and CEO

When Wiley Post became the first to explore high-altitude, long-distance flight and Will Rogers became known as the “patron saint of aviation,” little did we know that Oklahoma would become known as the “Aerospace State.” Yes, energy is number one, but aerospace is the state’s second-largest industry, generating $44 billion in economic activity and 120,000 jobs.

With 1,500 current aerospace-related job openings in Oklahoma City and four of five aerospace executives saying their greatest need is to hire millennials and fill the workforce pipeline, Oklahoma’s aerospace industry offers a very bright and stable future.
